Bittersweet Goodbye Alex Rios.
We hardly got to see that “potential”.
Enjoy the Windy City and we’ll try to remember the good times instead of the gaffs.
There were less of the latter. Ppl need to keep that in mind.
Also you were great for T-shirt sales. Esp. with the ladies.
How will we ever replace u?
Who will be the name on the backs of all the babes from this day onwards?
Wells? Overbay? Lind? Hill? Tallet? Halladay?
These are the types of questions that need answering in this time of remorse.
Regretfully, you were just too expensive to keep
even though you did wonders at the Jays Shop
so… now we wait for the Next Alx Rios…

WOW! what a great day yesterday was to be a sports fan in Toronto:
Memorable day indeed! Though we weren’t at the Real Madrid game, we caught the second half on the telly and the sheer magnificance of watching the worlds best in our backyard was amazing to behold. plus we scored a goal. that was the icing baby. what a day!
As for Rios, at this point we believe anything we can get for this guy is great. We can also accept some1 just taking his contract off our hands but we prefer the first choice. Even a few picks would suffice. Time for a change of scenery for Rios we thinks. It could be the best thing to happen to both parties.

wow! when will the party end? who knows. just been busy with life, music and sports. theme for this week is auditions!
as far as sports go… we are currently auditioning for a canucks blog so expect our “demo” to show up here soon. most like a rant about drafting and what to do about FA’s and RFA’s. what will they think of goin’ non-caps? in other news:
- bowling a steady 130 so far. lookin’ at getting it to 150 by season’s end. pb =212! that game was awesome. too bad i followed it up with a 120. but that is the game i guess. bowling hot and cold as last nites practice session with the team showed. practice makes perfect!
- congrats on TFC for winning 6-1 last night! what a great game! what “impact” were on the pitch? none we thinks.
- RIOS! learn to keep your head in the game! could be worse though, we could have Milton Bradley.
- Jays pitchers continue to impress!
- hint to the majors: to stop drugs in sport = either incarcerate the offenders OR punish the team in the standings (ie: take away pts and/or wins.) that will rid the prob in a blink of an eye! easy peasy!
Gotta run. Literally. Woodpeck will return shortly with Canucks rants in hand!

The baseball brains are meeting this week and the Jays are in a crunch. No money to spend. Except on AJ Burnett which makes no sense. If there is no money to spend, then there’s no money to spend. If you have money to spend on AJ & he doesn’t use it, in theory there should still be his money available to spend but supposedly that is not the case.
Regardless, the baseball winter (NOTE TO MLB: uh, winter doesn’t start til’ Dec. 21st.) meetings are on right now and trades/signings are few and far between. Why wait for some of the dominoes to fall like CC Sabathia and Mark Texiera. It could be February by the time that happens and by then who knows what the trade environment will be like? Instability and fear is ripe in the air. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT UNCERTAINTY. Make some bold moves that no one could ever imagine. Even if it means gutting the heart of the Toronto Blue Jays. The time is now to make a splash. Show some guts and trade some valuable assets to get some value in return. The team has become too stale and its time to shake things up!
The whole “x” factor in this is the fans. We hear too often that no one will come out to see a team without the Doc, Wells or Rios. Be serious! The fans are most worried about having team that offers a chance to win. No one will go see a team without a chance to win (Hello Florida Marlins!). That is the ONLY X FACTOR! No one player is bigger than the team. No player is worthy of holding the franchise hostage because the ones in charge of the team think they are too valuable. Make a move when the value is high. For example, the Doc’s value won’t be this high ever again! His salary is decent. He’s had some fantastic years. He’s a statistical stud. SELL HIGH, BUY LOW! We as fans are sick of the same ol’ team and the Jays need to show some moxie. Take a chance. And not just a chance on a oft-injured player trying to make a comeback or a player trying to make a comeback on the cheap. Try taking a REAL chance. With REAL high stakes. Trade your biggest and best for someone else’s biggest and best OR for some players with the potential to be the biggest and best. The time is now to roll the dice because what we’ve got now hasn’t been working and the same old isn’t gonna cut it again. The players need a change. The fans deserve a change. This version of the Jays has been together for far too long with the same major pieces and its become a joke. The Clubhouse has often been referred to a “country club” clubhouse. And that’s because the players that matter know that they won’t get moved. Its time to move some of those major pieces. The same Jays team is not gonna give us hope for this upcoming season. There are only so many times we can watch the same repeated episode on TV and the same team with the same major pieces will be just that. Without any considerable action on the Jays behalf, we’ll be more than likely watching another channel come April and that won’t be good for their bottom line. Rumour has it, that is the line that really matters.
